Batman Absolute Edition: A Full List

Years before DC Comics launched Batman into the Absolute Universe, it had already found a use for the word “Absolute.” As a matter of fact, it was first used a quarter of a century earlier on a reprint of the first twelve issues of The Authority by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch.

Before that, DC had already tested the oversized deluxe format with The Green Lantern/Green Arrow Collection (which eventually joined the Absolute collection in 2015), but it’s The Authority book that came to define the expectation readers have with the Absolute format: oversized 8 by 12 inches (200 mm × 300 mm) books presented in a slipcased edition with cloth bookmark, high-quality hardcover collections of previously published comics, typically restored, corrected and recolored with additional material such as sketches, scripts, annotations, commentary, or extras that are not in the standard trade paperback.

Without surprise, Batman’s stories found their way to the Absolute collection as the Dark Knight’s long history is filled with now-classic tales created by master cartoonists. Batman has already conquered other formats, and you can read his stories thanks to the omnibus collection.

It’s the end of the year 2025 and, as far as Marvel and DC Comics are concerned, the publication of new omnibus collected editions has once again been both abundant and wide-ranging. As every comic book collector knows, these oversized hardcovers are not printed in large quantities.

Keeping track of announcements and release dates can quickly become complicated, which is why we maintain a dedicated page for the Marvel Omnibus release schedule and a similar one for DC Omnibuses. These pages are updated monthly, reflecting the new batches of titles Marvel and DC announce as their publishing plans evolve (with dates currently available through the end of summer).

With a constant flow of releases, it is easy to miss a book or two over the course of a year. As 2025 comes to a close, it is worth looking back with a comprehensive list of all the omnibuses published—or republished—by DC and Marvel Comics during the past twelve months.

Fighting crime in Gotham City is a full-time job — one that Batman has been doing for the past 85 years, and he’s not slowing down! As one of the most popular DC Comics heroes, the Caped Crusader always stars in many series, from his adventures in the main continuity to the Absolute version and other stories set in different realities.

DC Comics releases many books featuring the Dark Knight every year, in different formats, and it can sometimes be hard to keep track of when a book is coming out, whether it’s the latest omnibus, a new edition of an old series, a reprint, or the latest volume in a new collection.

Marvel Epic Collection: The 2026 Release Schedule

Everybody is not collecting costly omnibuses and Marvel Comics knows that. That’s why the House of Ideas launched, in 2013, the more affordable Marvel Epic Collection. This collection of trade paperbacks reprints large parts of Marvel Comics’ back catalog in chronological order.

Each Epic Collection is focused on a specific character, team, or title–popular ones like Spider-Man, X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic Four, and lesser-known characters like Moon Knight and Iron Fist–, presenting the stories in the order they were originally published and, unlike some other collected editions, these books don’t rely on being read in sequential order.

A single volume might contain 20-30 issues of a comic, including main series issues, annuals, tie-ins, and sometimes related series that add to the storyline, offering a comprehensive block of stories, and making it easy to jump into a character or series without needing previous volumes. This helps with the fact they are not published in strict chronological order, meaning a volume released this year might cover the 1960s, while another might focus on the 1980s. Over time, the line is designed to fill in all the gaps.

Sadly, these books may be affordable, but they are not printed in large quantities. It’s too easy to miss out on a new one. We will try to list here what’s coming, what’s already published, and if there are reprints.

The Complete Guide to Marvel Omnibus Releases in 2024

It’s the end of the year 2024 and, as far as Marvel Comics goes, the publication of new omnibus collected editions was aplenty and varied. As every comic book collector knows, those big books are not published in large quantities. That’s why Marvel also re-printed a good selection of them this year as new subsequent volumes are published.

It may be hard to follow what is announced and when a book is coming out, and that’s why we have a page dedicated to the release schedule of the Marvel Omnibuses (and for the DC Omnibuses too). We are updating it once a month as Marvel announced from time to time a new batch of future releases.

It’s a continuing flow of new comic books and you may have missed something during the last 12 months. That’s why it’s time to take a look back with a complete listing of all the omnibuses published (or republished) in 2024 by Marvel Comics.

The Complete Guide to DC Comics Omnibus Releases in 2024

As 2024 concludes, it is time to reflect on the last 12 months of collected omnibus editions published by DC Comics. Unlike the continuous flow of new releases and reprints of omnibus coming from Marvel Comics, DC Comics was still lagging far behind during the year’s first half. But after almost two years of slow releases, things are picking up.

DC Comics launched new collections, the popular DC Compact Comics and its version of the Epic Collection, DC Finest. And of course, the publication of new omnibuses became a lot more regular, with some welcome reprints added to the schedule.

Nevertheless, new comic books are still hitting the shelves every week and you may have missed something during the last 12 months (if you didn’t follow our page–updated once a month!–dedicated to the release schedule of DC Omnibuses). That’s why it’s time to take a look back with a complete listing of all the omnibuses published (or republished) in 2024 by DC Comics.

DC Finest Collection: The 2026 Release Schedule

Years ago, Marvel launched its Epic Collection, offering full stories at an affordable price. You can choose your favourite heroes and pick up a complete run and arc to access both old and new stories, including some classics and some that have been forgotten. It was and still is a massive success. Now, DC Comics has decided to follow suit with its own line of books: DC Finest.

Each DC Finest book covers a specific character, team, event, or genre from across DC history. Depending on the chronology, a volume dedicated to ‘Robin’ could feature Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne or Jason Todd. The Green Lantern volumes will feature stories starring Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Alan Scott, and others, depending on the era. One moment you’ll be enjoying classic Silver Age adventures with Barry Allen, and the next you’ll be following Wally West into danger in the Modern Age.

Each volume is around 600 pages long and collects around 25 issues or more. These include main series issues, annuals, tie-in,s and any other stories that contribute to the main storyline. This makes it easy to jump into a character or series without needing the previous volumes. Like the Epic Collection, the volumes are not released in chronological order as DC Comics jumps around different eras. Over time, the line is designed to fill in all the gaps and provide a comprehensive chronological reading experience.

DC Comics Omnibus: The 2026 Release Schedule

Omnibuses are a favorite among collectors. They are large-format graphic novel editions, beautiful hardcover editions collecting reprints of complete series, runs, or events. They are heavy, but it’s often the best way to collect some hard-to-find comics. If the editing is good, it’s also the best way to read in order.

Sadly, these books are not cheap or printed in large quantities. It’s too easy to miss out on a new one. We will try to list here what’s coming, what’s already published, and if there are reprints.
