Avengers: Armageddon Reading Order

The Marvel Universe’s superheroes are about to go through some tough times once more. From the ashes of the One World Under Doom event comes a new threat that will lead to another disassembling of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, as writer Chip Zdarsky is setting up a new conjecture to launch his run on the Avengers.

It all started after Doctor Doom’s sudden disappearance, leaving a massive political and power vacuum in Latveria. Seeking vengeance for his past imprisonment and torture in the country, General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (aka the Red Hulk) leads a military occupation to claim Doom’s homeland for himself, igniting a fiery geopolitical conflict. For Red Hulk, it’s time to free the world of its tyrants and let the people choose their own leaders, and after Latveria, he moves from one country to the next, sowing chaos in the name of democracy. While the U.N. forbade the Avengers from intervening after the Red Hulk put Captain America in a coma, Iron Man decides to get revenge and stop the Red menace.

This is only the start of a world-spanning conflict that will reshape the world and the place the Avengers occupy in it, all under the command of Chip Zdarsky and artists Delio Diaz and Frank Alpizar. Let’s move into this new conflict with a complete Avengers: Armageddon Reading Order!

What to read to be ready for the Avengers: Armageddon event?

The whole Avengers: Armageddon event stems from One World Under Doom and the Red Hulk tie-in series by Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw. I invite you to follow the One World Under Doom Reading Order for a better reading experience

Once all of this ended, the one-shot The Will of Doom #1 set up the Dungeons of Doom miniseries written by Benjamin Percy and Phillip Kennedy Johnson, with art by Carlos Magno, Robert Gill, and Justin Mason, in which Red Hulk and many others return to Latveria to claim Doom’s arsenal before someone else takes control of it.

All of this is setting up the geopolitical conflict and the place Red Hulk is taking in it. But Avengers: Armageddon is about Chip Zdarsky’s plan for the Avengers and Captain America. The event took shape in the two series he wrote during the first half of the year: Captain America and Wolverine – Weapons of Armageddon. The first one introduced David Colton, another failed Super-Soldier, and Steve Rogers’ internal conflicts. The second is putting Colton on another level before he plays a key part during the crossover event.

And that’s it! Be ready for Armageddon!
