While Marvel still dominates the Omnibus market and the Epic Collection is still a commercial success, DC Comics made a splash with the introduction of the DC Compact format and finally started filling a big gap with the launch of the DC Finest collection, while the Omnibus collection had a good year too. That said, there’s another collection the company has been putting out for a few years now that has become a great alternative for those who like big books at a good price and want to read comics that have become hard to find. It’s the Compendium Collection.
In 2026, especially during the second half of the year, DC Comics is ramping up the production of those door stoppers, continuing with hard-to-find stories, but also with the reprinting of Vertigo Classics (some easy to find, though). If you are not too familiar with the format, DC Compendium is a line of softcover, standard-size editions published by DC Comics since 2020. The smaller ones are around 500 pages, but most of them are between 1000 and 1300 pages.
